I have even called Garmin for them to tell me, "sorry, that address does not exist in our database." The Garmin is great if you live in a city, but for people like me who live in rural places or do lots of traveling in rural communities - it stinks.
You can confirm your left or right turns by checking out the street name prior to turning. I truly felt confident and relaxed when driving with this GPS.Pros:- TTS- Quick in acquiring satellite signal- Widescreen- Lots of POI- User-friendlyCons:- May sometimes give you a longer route instead of the shortest / fastest one- Only some fancy featuresSummary:This GPS is great value and it is very easy to use. I've never used a GPS prior to this purchase and I bought this for a road trip to San Diego. My aunt has a GPS without TTS, and "Right turn in 200 Feet" doesn't really help relieve the stress of driving in an unknown environment. If you are new to GPS and tight on the budget, give this one a try. I chose this GPS because it is the least expensive one that has Text-to-speech (TTS) feature and also wide screen. TTS is extremely helpful when driving in a city.
The data base is really up to date. Remember, the GPS always knows where you are, you just tell it where you want to go.
After you get this, I bet you will wonder, why did I wait so long. If you make a wrong turn, it immediately recalculates and you're on your way again.
Every time I use this GPS unit, I marvel how good it is. When driving to a new address, I can't wait to use it and preloading in your favorites which is really easy, you can just touch the screen to start going, really easy.
Besides the female voice never gets mad if you make a wrong turn. The map history is unbelievable how accurate it is on recently named streets.
With this on your dash/windshield,(Suction cup mount) and no external antenna (it's built in) it takes up very little space and does not interfere with driving or vision.
I bought it for my boss who never figured it out so it's sitting in a box in his office.
But not bad for the cost. Tried to take us off the state highway and over backroads in the mountains of Vermont -- the shortest route. A friends likes it better than his comparably priced TomTom. Seems to work well in the city, but voice speaks too rapidly and pronounces streets differently. For instance, "Perimeter Drive" (pe-RIM-e-ter) was pronounced PERI-meter.
